Mavic Tech Forum
If you have any technical queries about Mavic products, please post them here
We used to run the bikingbarn website (for those of you that have not come us in the past – we were the primary stockist of Mavic spare parts in the UK) and during those six years we built a strong reputation for product knowledge and customer service.
Whilst we no longer sell the parts, we recognise that there is still a demand for advice, so we hope these forums will facilitate that.
Why is my Mavic ID360 Freehub slipping ?
Quote from admin on 22 February 2026, 21:37This is a very frequently asked question !
If your freehub body slips, especially under load (eg. when climbing or sprinting, or just powering along on the flat ) then the most probable cause is that the ratchets and/or splines on the inside of the freehub body are worn.
We often get calls from people that say they experienced slippage and so purchased new ratchets, installed them only to find that the slipping continued. Or they bought just a new freehub body, but the slipping continued.
The key point is that the ratchets and freehub body wear in tandem, much like the chain and rear sprockets. If both are particularly worn then replacing just one (ie. ratchets or freehub body) may well not fix the issue. So whilst you can try to replace just the one element , and see if to works for you, don’t be surprised if it doesn’t !
