Mavic Tech Forum
If you have any technical queries about Mavic products, please post them here
We used to run the bikingbarn website (for those of you that have not come us in the past – we were the primary stockist of Mavic spare parts in the UK) and during those six years we built a strong reputation for product knowledge and customer service.
Whilst we no longer sell the parts, we recognise that there is still a demand for advice, so we hope these forums will facilitate that.
Using Shimano Microspline freehub V3990101 on Mavic Allroad S wheels ?
Quote from Russ Yardley on 27 November 2025, 17:05Hi,
I have just got a set of Mavic Allroad S wheels, and want to run a 12 speed setup.
I have checked the techdocs and it seems that the V3990101 freehub can be used with the Allroad wheels.
However I am having difficulty fitting the axle adaptor , do you have any advice on how to do that ?
thanks

Thanks for reaching out.
I presume you are referring to the drive side axle adaptor ? This is because this needs to be changed if you switch from a Shimano HG freehub to a microspline (or Sram XDR) freehub. With your wheels you should have received three adaptors for the rear wheel (two were already in situ) and there should be one spare. This is the adaptor you need to use.
For clarity the adaptor is marked 21mm and does not have a flange.
